Day one
The tour begins in AD 122 along ancient Rome’s border
empire, the mighty Hadrian’s wall, along its forts which
are set in the beautiful rugged terrain of Northumberland.

We travel along Britain’s stunning coast line to the
ancient causeway of Holy Island (Lindisfarne). Which has hosted
St Cuthbert’s preserved body in AD 698 and witnessed
one of the bloodiest Viking attacks on the inhabiting monks.
From Holy Island we travel inland to Alnwick Castle. The
castle saw its first construction in AD 1096. The castle was
Besieged by William the Lion, King of Scotland in AD1172 but
successfully defended by William de Vescy.
This Castle hasn’t just had a military past but has
featured as Hogwarts in the first two Harry Potter movies.

famous naval adventurer Captain Cook in 1728. Whitby was host
to the most famous written book by Bram Stoker, Dracula. It
is said he still haunts the Norman Abbey to this day. The
harbour is also home to the Grand Turk Man o war ship (featured
in Horn Blower) and is also the largest supplier of Whitby
Jet.

City Northern England has to offer, York. Founded as a fortress
in AD 71, Eboracum. By the Romans. In AD306, Emperor Constantius
Chlorus died there. York has had a prosperous and turbulent
history in AD 600 York was home to Edwin, King of Northumbria,
but during AD 866 York was invaded again, this time by the
